Falmouth Parish Church of King Charles the Martyr - Cornwall

The Coffee Shop

We sell my Hot Pepper Jelly.
I started with regular and double hot. Then someone said the double was not hot enough.
So now I make triple hot;
there haven’t been any more complaints.
David Underwood in The Coffee Shop
The coffee shop has been raising funds for the church for 20 years.
Where is it?
In the church building – under the church vestry - with entrances off the main shopping street (Church Street). Look for our banner and signs.
Is there easy access for the less mobile?
Yes.
When is it open?
From Easter and throughout the summer the shop is open to raise church funds on Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday, 10.30am to 3pm. Other charity groups, such as Guide Dogs for the Blind, RNLI, National Animal Welfare Trust, Falmouth/Penryn Food bank, run the shop, and raise funds for themselves on Monday, Thursday and Friday.
What can I eat and drink there?
The King Charles volunteers can offer: - Tea, coffee (filter), hot chocolate and a selection of soft drinks. Home made cakes Scones (sweet and savoury) Cream teas, quiches or soup
Can I just have a drink there?
Yes – and you can bring your own food, so long as you buy a drink from us.
How much do you charge?
Our charges are very reasonable. A pot of tea is 90p. A cream tea £3.20
How big is it?
It’s just the right size - 7 or 8 tables seating about 30 people. We like to be able to chat a little to our customers – although when we’re busy we know we are making money for good causes.
Do you sell other items?
You can browse our second-hand book stall. Or you may be tempted by our home made jams and chutneys – including David’s Hot Pepper Jelly. You can also get a copy of the 7th edition of the King Charles Coffee Shop Cook Book – just £1.20.
Do you want help?
Definitely yes. We need people to serve in the shop and to join the ‘Cake Brigade’ who prepare food at home. We need donations of books too.
Do I need to be a churchgoer?
No. Most of our volunteers are not members of King Charles Church, but just enjoy being involved in the shop.
